Coconuts are one of the most versatile natural ingredients, valued for their flavour, nutrition, and wide range of uses.

Grown in tropical regions of Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, Caribbean, parts of Africa and South America, coconuts provide everything from coconut water and milk to oil, flour, and sugar. The white flesh (or “meat”) is used in both sweet and savoury cooking, while by-products like coir (from the husk) are used in textiles and home goods. Their naturally rich and creamy profile makes coconut products especially popular in plant-based, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free diets.

As interest in plant-based and functional foods grows, so does the demand for coconut-based products. However, challenges such as ageing trees, small-scale farming, and climate-related disruptions are placing pressure on the supply chain.

Over 75% of the world’s coconuts come from Indonesia, the Philippines, India and Sri Lanka. At Helios we work on multi-origin supply solutions for our customers, to ensure continuity in supply and avoid disruption.
